Lee Thompson Young, who played Jett Jackson on the Disney Channel show “The Famous Jett Jackson,” has died at just 29 years old.
The actor was found dead in his Los Angeles home by his landlord, TMZ reports, in a possible suicide.
Officials discovered what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, sources told the site.
Lee was currently acting as Detective Barry Frost, a regular character on the TNT crime show “Rizzoli & Isles.” When he didn’t appear on set this morning, staffers called the actor’s landlord to check up on his whereabouts.
After charming audiences as Jett Jackson, Lee went on to star in the popular 2004 movie Friday Night Lights before finding continued success in television again with shows like “Smallville” and “FlashForward.”
UPDATE: Lee publicist released this statement, "It is with great sadness that I announce that Lee Thompson Young tragically took his own life this morning...Lee was more than just a brilliant young actor, he was a wonderful and gentle soul who will be truly missed."
