Thousands of eager girls, woman and even a few men lined up for hours this past weekend to be one of the first people to catch a screening of The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

The movie broke records in the first day with its midnight screening making more than $26 million dollars. That's more than The Dark Knight did back in July 18, 2008 ($18.4 million in midnight sales) and Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince's, who made $22.2 million when it was released on July 15, 2009.

And the buzz surrounding the movie didn't die down over the weekend. Between Friday and Sunday, the movie made over $140 million dollars!

The Twilight Saga: New Moon has only been out in theaters for a few hours and it's already dominating the box office. According to Deadline Hollywood, Summit Entertainment's New Moon debuted with $23M-$24M in 12:01AM screenings.

In comparison, The Dark Knight did $18.4 million in midnight sales on July 18, 2008, and Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince's made $22.2 million when it was released on July 15, 2009.
