Mike Huckabee, Fox News host and former Arkansas governor, criticized Natalie Portman’s pregnancy, calling it “troubling.”
"I think it gives a distorted image that everybody hires nannies and caretakers and nurses. Most single moms are very poor, uneducated, can't get a job, and if it weren't for government assistance, their kids would be starving to death and would not get healthcare."
Here’s the thing about poor people, though. We know we’re f-cking poor. Poor people who are dumb enough to have a kid in spite of the fact aren’t going to do so because Natalie Portman did it, they’re going to do it because “we’s bored anyways an’ I cayn't find the TV clicker.”
The point is, people are going to have kids in unfavorable situations, and it’s not Natalie Portman’s fault. And anyway, Natalie is nearly thirty, made a good career for herself because she’s talented, and is engaged to the father of her child.
I imagine Huckabee didn’t use Bristol Palin as an example because on the white board at Fox News, there’s a happy face with Bristol’s name under it, and under a big sad face is the word: HOLLYWOOD.
