Naomi Campbell Wants More Black Models

Naomi Campbell

Naomi Campbell has graced the cover of Vogue on several occasions and now she is criticizing the mag for not having enough black faces on there.

Campbell says, "Black models are being sidelined by the major modeling agencies. It is a pity that people don't appreciate black beauty. Even myself, I get a raw deal from my own country in England. For example, I hardly come on the front pages of the London Vogue magazine. Only white models, some of whom are not as prominent as I am, are put on splash pages."

"I don't want to quit modeling until I find that black models get equal prominence and recognition by the world media and information instruments."

Naomi Campbell is actually saying some that really makes sense. We hardly see anyone but “white models” on the covers of these fashion magazines.

she's totally right. i'm sick of seeing carbon copies walking around and being promoted in the media. the blonde hair skinny skinny is only a 5th of the real beauty out there. and i mean true beauty.

who cares what a small island prints or doesn't print. england is a non-issue. she does raise a good point about the average mag cover.yet it is directly influenced by sales. when non-caucs start to value themselves AND buy mags, change will begin. then look out because super white skin is not really attractive outside a perfectly lit studio.

She is right and she should open her own agency. Cosmo is also another magazine that doesnt put black women on their covers. Me being a black woman have stoped buying those mags. Because they arent targeting women like myself. All they have to do is mix it up a bit thats all we are asking. Show all the sides of beauty not just one white side. Beauty is in all shades and sizes. Get with it!

Oh Please
Since when are Brazillian models considered 'white'? There are a lot of south-american (and up and coming asian models) out there, and offcourse a lot of european models seeing as Paris/Milan together with Ny are the fashioncapitals of the world... Also, there is simply a smaller pond of black models to choose from. Let's face it, some black beauty living in some shack in the getto's of cape town isnt going to get discovered. And not to be racist (this isnt racist, it's a simple opnion), a lot of black girls have bad bone structure or the exact opposite with very decisive facial features which only makes them eligible for a certain type of shoots. Not to mention the fact that Naomi is one of the worst rolemodels out there, isn't exactly helping the blakc model cause.

There can be ne doubt about black women suppremacy in beauty. The way they walk, move and shine has no comparison. I am a caucasian male, married to a black lady. I dont even watch white ladies since 20 years unless they have a really strong natural beauty . And this is really rare. For the last 50 years, rich white chicks have been wiling two things : having biger lips and a rounder ass. Welle, I guess the cannot deny they wanted the black women attributes !!

Black beauty is feared as it grounds the observer, Black space babies on the information instruments make you think you never want to see anything else, I figure this is the reason they are left out, just so we don't know what we're missin. Am thankful I live in South Africa, born and bred, Black and all, and I couldn't take White only, if only Black people had their own super magazines, then the Black Beauty story would be abundant. Am positive we'll get there. One Love. Phindiwe Kunene, 39 years old, Love Naomi Campbell, she respresents all the Black Goddesses out there. Long Live the Black Queen.

Black woman are beautiful there should be more black woman on the covers of magazines. Sometimes people just fear something that's more beautiful than them. I do agree though Miss Campbell isn't exactly a role model but she's a good fashion model.
