Nancy O'Dell

“I remember watching Entertainment Tonight when it first premiered and dreaming about working for the show someday,” she says. “I am honored to be the one chosen to fill a TV legend’s seat and I hope I can do her proud!”
Mary Hart was probably forced into retirement because she's 60 years old and it's sort of awkward to report on Justin Bieber and the rest of the Disney stars when you're old enough to be their grandmother. She had a great run though!
Every time I think of Entertainment Tonight I remember the anorexic twins segments they air during sweeps. Mary Hart was a pro at those segments!
“Nancy is a talented and respected entertainment correspondent. We have spent many years working on opposite sides of the celebrity battlefield and I know the show will flourish with Nancy as co-anchor,” Mary said in a statement about Nancy taking her job from her.
Battlefield indeed! That's what the entertainment reporting industry is....a battlefield!

According to Access Hollywood, the announcement will be made on Monday’s Good Morning America between 7 and 9am.
Some of the people rumored to be in the running include Melissa Rycroft, Melanie Brown, Nancy O’Dell, Vanessa Minnillo, and Ashlan Gorse.
There’s also a possibility of having a rotating guest judge, similar to what American Idol did before permanently landing Ellen Degeneres.
Who do you think can pull off the job?! We’re thinking Mel B can add a little “spice” to the show!

Her rep released a statement, saying, “The original member of the Access Hollywood family, co-anchor and respected broadcast journalist Nancy O’Dell, has chosen to leave the show after 13 years. O’Dell appreciates NBC’s cooperation as she begins this next chapter in her career. Even though she will be leaving for a new opportunity, this decision is based totally on Nancy’s desire to take her career to the next level and is completely amicable. She will continue on with projects as a broadcast entertainment journalist.”
“Having been at Access Hollywood from day one of the show, this has been an incredibly tough decision for O’Dell,” the statement continues. “She will miss her Access Hollywood family, but looks forward to still seeing them all on the red carpet.”
Insiders say Nancy has become unhappy with the direction the show has recently taken, and wants to continue her career as a journalist in a different capacity. “She has spent a lot of years building respect in the entertainment community and celebrities trust her,” says the source. “She’s known as the nice and classy girl. She values that.”
We wish Nancy luck in her future endeavors, and are eager to hear what she has coming up!
