Musical legend Stevie Wonderis receiving a prestigious honor from, of all places, our own government. Who knew that those stuffy Washington types liked to get down with some soul music?! The 25-time Grammy winner has been chosen as this year's recipient of the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song.

Librarian of Congress, James H. Billington, says, "The Gershwin Prize was created to honor an artist whose creative output transcends distinctions between musical styles and idioms, bringing diverse listeners together and fostering mutual understanding and appreciation. Stevie Wonder's music epitomizes this ideal."

Stevie Wonder says of the honor, "It's an immense privilege to join such a remarkable roster of musicians and composers. I am touched to receive this honor and look forward to creating music for the celebration."

That sounds like he's planning on writing a whole new song for the event! Aren't we lucky!
