New Moon
Listen up Twi-hards! The New Moon soundtrack has just been released! We know, it’s earlier than expected, but with the popularity of the movie, are you surprised?

Variety reports that rather than releasing the soundtrack on Tuesday, Atlantic records opted to get a head start on the weekend.

All of the tracks on the album are previously unreleased and exclusive to the film. Co-producer of the record Alex Patsavas says director Chris Weitz had a lot of say as to which songs would make it on.

He says, "A good number of the songs were the result of meeting Chris and spending time in the cutting room with the already edited movie.”

“ New Moon has a more somber tone in many ways. A quieter feel for the music seemed to make sense."

Atlantic records executive VP Livia Tortella says the soundtrack "appeals to a slightly older demographic, a more artistic demographic."

The Twilight soundtrack has sold nearly 2.3 million copies to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan figures. Nearly a year after release, it hovers at No. 77 on this week's U.S. album chart.

We’re thinking New Moon will surpass it!

Can't wait to buy it. I love the Twilight soundtrack. I ended up buying a lot of other CD's based on the bands on the Twilight CD. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Muse.
