NOFX, Bosstones, Allman Bros. To Rock Democratic Convention

There's an interesting musical lineup appearing at the Democratic National Convention at the end of the month. Kicking things off on August 22nd in Denver is My Morning Jacket, followed by Black Keys.

NOFX, who will also be celebrating their 25th anniversary together, will play their album, Punk In Drublic, in its entirety the next day. Then the Mighty Mighty Bosstones will take the stage.

Closing out the ceremonies will be The Allman Brothers, who will rock out on August 30th. Seems like they may have run out of money when it came to music for the event.

Not like any of the bands are bad, but just not as current or mainstream as they could be for such a public event. What are your thoughts on the musical lineup?

All the shows reported here are shows booked at Red Rocks in Colorado. They have NO connection to the Democratic Convention. They are part of Red Rocks regular run of summer shows. They just happen to fall during the convention week. For the record, Black Keys are opening for My Morning Jacket. NOFX & the Bosstones are appearing at a festival called "Punk on the Rocks." And, the Allmans show is a double-bill with Ratdog, ending their short August tour together. The following night, Govt Mule and Umphrey's McGee are playing at Red Rocks as well, making it a small Labor Day jam festival.

How exactly are the Allmans playing the convention when the convention ends on 8-28? They are playing CO's Red Rocks on 8-30, but that has nothing to do with the convention. Bad reporting!
