Melissa Etheridge Speaks Out Against Proposition 8

Following in the footsteps of Ellen Degeneres, Brad Pitt, Sacha Baron Cohen, and many other celebrities, singer Melissa Etheridge is speaking out against the passing of California's Proposition 8. Melissa, 44, posted her opinion on

The Daily Beast and didn't hold back. She says that if she is not "allowed the same right [to marry] under the state constitution as any other citizen...I am taking that to mean I do not have to pay my state taxes, because I am not a full citizen."

Further driving her point home, she adds, "There is a lot I can do with the extra half a million dollars that I will be keeping instead of handing it over to the state of California."

Melissa closes out her piece saying, "Gay people are born everyday. You will never legislate that away." We are behind you all the way Melissa!
