Today legendary jazz musician and inventor of the electric guitar Les Paul passed away. He died of complications from pneumonia at age 94 in New York.
Paul had a major effect on the music industry, and numerous musicians have spoken out to pay their respects to the legend. Here’s what a few of them said on Le Paul’s behalf:
John Mayer: "Remembering Les Paul today. Just happened to have his namesake Gibson around my shoulder the last few days.”
Slash: "Les Paul was a shining example of how full one's life can be; he was so vibrant and full of positive energy.”
Keith Urban said he was "deeply saddened" at the news, but that Paul's spirit will be "very present every time I set foot in the studio."
Joe Satriani: "Last October I joined him onstage at The Iridium club in NYC, and he was still shredding. He was and still is an inspiration to us all."
Les Paul was a pioneer in the music industry, and won’t be forgotten.
