The Grateful Dead have jumped aboard the Obama support train! According to Variety, the four remaining members of the band are reconnecting to play a show in support of the Democratic candidate next month. Bob Weir, Phil Lesh and Mickey Hart played a concert in February to encourage people to vote, and will be joined by fourth member Bill Kreutzmann on October 13 for the Obama fundraiser.

The Dead will perform at Penn State along with members of the Allman Brothers, adding fuel to the rumors that the two bands are teaming up in 2009 for a U.S. tour. That would be a trip!

Appropriate, considering that the Democratic Party has registered the dead to vote for two centuries and will continue to do so if the activities of Obama "superdelegate" Kwame Fitzpatrick and many of his other supporters are any indication. Obama is for sale to the highest bidder; his campaign won't accept Federal funding because Wall Street's ownership of Obama would be better-known than it now is. But not taking bribes is so damn boring....
