Talk about bragging rights! Coldplay had the best selling album in the world in 2008.

The album sold 6.8 million copies worldwide according to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), which represents the recording industry across the globe.

The album won three awards at the 2009 Grammy Awards: Best Rock Album as well as Song Of The Year and Best Pop Performance by a Duo/Group for the song Viva La Vida.

Chris Martin is determined to let his fans know that he did indeed come up with the song Viva La Vida. He and Coldplay were served with a lawsuit last week by guitarist Joe Satriani, who is accusing them of stealing the song from him. Joe says Coldplay copied segments of his 2004 instrumental If I Could Fly, and that’s how they came up with Viva La Vida.
