The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards Nominations have been announced and Lady Gaga and Beyonce are leading the pack with nine nominations each, including video of the year and best female video!

Britney Spears wasn't too far behind, getting seven nominations including Video of the Year for "Womanizer."

Coldplay fans can breathe a sigh of relief, the band is not splitting up anytime soon.

As you know, Coldplay is in the middle of a nasty lawsuit with guitarist Joe Satriani, who claims that their hit song “Viva La Vida” is a rip-off of his 2004 track “If I Could Fly.”

But rather than get angry about the claims, Chris Martin is taking it all in stride. He says the lawsuit has even inspired him to become a better singer!

Uh-oh. Coldplay is being accused of plagiarism again! Now the veteran singer, Yusef Islam, previously known as Cat Stevens, alleges the band ripped off one of his songs. And funny enough, it’s the same song Joe Satriani accused them of stealing—Viva la Vida.

Coldplay knows these are tough economic times for people. So they’re showing their soft side by offering a free CD to their fans! The catch is that you have to attend one of their shows this summer. Not a bad consolation prize!

Remember the feud between guitarist Joe Satriani and Coldplay, who he accused of ripping off his sound? Well Coldplay is defending their song Viva La Vida, saying it sounds nothing like Joe’s 2004 track If I Could Fly.

The 2009 Brit Awards turned out to be a huge night for Duffy, Kings Of Leon, and Katy Perry! Duffy took home three awards for British Female Solo Artist, British Single, and British Album.

Kings of Leon won for Best International Group, and Best International Album. Katy Perry won the coveted International Female Solo Artist this year. Congrats to all of them, and the rest of this year’s winners!
