Britney's Lip-Synching an Issue in Australia

Britney Spears fans don’t go to her shows to hear her sing. It’s about the experience—the dancing, the sets, the costume, and just being in the presence of Brit!

But Britney’s failure to actually sing during her concerts is apparently an issue in Australia! The pop star touched down yesterday, and officials are expressing concern about her using pre-recorded tracks during her Australian shows.

People reports that Virginia Judge, the Minister for Fair Trading for New South Wales, says she is considering options to ensure that fans know what they’re getting when they go see Britney in concert.

She says, “It is Britney’s ‘prerogative’ to lip-sync, and it is my job to make sure consumers know what they are paying for up front. Personally I would rather see a live set from a local artist. but I am sure Britney’s fans will be treated to a spectacular show.”

This woman obviously isn’t a Britney fan! She even is considering having a disclaimer being put on tickets and other promotional materials stating that certain portions of her concert will be pre-recorded.

Clearly the Australian people don’t share Judge’s sentiment—many of Britney’s shows in Australia are already sold out. The shows start tonight!
