Amy Winehouse hasn’t come out with new music in a very long time, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed by her record label. While Amy was in St. Lucia, she was writing songs and at least being productive with her time. But now we hear those alleged tracks she wrote just aren’t good enough.
The Sun reports that Amy’s new music was heavily influenced by reggae, rather than her signature style everyone came to love with Back To Black. Label bosses are reportedly not impressed with the new sound, nor the lyrics, which they say are all about guess who…Blake!
According to
AskMen, “The lyrics are very dark indeed. While she’s known for her confessional style and has been very successful with it, many of the tracks are near the knuckle. In the past, she’s written frequently about broken hearts and boyfriends, but this time round she’s delving into harrowing terrain.”
The label is now focusing on her return because by the time her next album comes out, it will have been three years since she’s done one. The source says, “It’s crucial Amy’s return is handled properly. If she puts out a record that is in any way half-baked, that could severely damage her long-term prospects, so everyone’s focus at the minute is getting it right, even if that means telling Amy some things she probably won’t want to hear.”
We have to say, if Amy’s album sucks, we’ll probably be done with her. We’re already so over her now, with everything she’s been through. When an artist is more famous for their drug problem than their music, it just doesn’t seem worth it to care about them as much. At least we got one good album out of her!
