The role that made Reese Witherspoon one of our favorites and the film that made a household name of Oscar winner is coming to Broadway!

The stage production - which is due to open in New York next spring (2007) - will be based a combination of the movies and the book that inspired them.

The show - which as yet, has no cast - will be directed by Jerry Mitchell, who won a Tony Award in 2005 for choreographing 'La Cage aux Folles'. He gushed: "I love the story. It's so positive, especially for young girls to believe in themselves. And it's fun to root for a leading character you care about"
