Viggo Mortensen has threatened to leave the biz! He’s apparently exhausted and has decided to take an indefinite break from the movie industry.
According to
Askmen.com Viggo says, "In the past week I've been from Los Angeles to Japan to Korea to Poland to the UK. It's ridiculous and it's not a healthy way to be. But, as it happens, I'm taking measures to change that. No more movies. I haven't said yes to one in over a year. I've been in all these well-received movies and it seems like I should be doing some more, but there are other things I want to do. It's not the right time."
Finally, an actor who takes his health seriously. Most stars land in rehab or the hospital for exhaustion problems due to their crazy schedules, but Viggo seems to want to nip this in the bud.
Viggo also says that he’s turned down several roles in the past because he didn’t respect what the movies were about.
He said, "They were often complete crap, all about product placement and marketing. I don't need the money."
This isn’t the first time Viggo has threatened to leave the business behind. He said last year, "I've made a lot of interesting movies and I've worked with some really good people. Not in a disrespectful way, but now I could kind of take it or leave it to be honest. I've felt that way for a while.”
We hate to see him go! But at the same time, the guy is 50, and has had a great career. So you can’t fault him for being over it. He should take some time off, and then return to the biz if he’s offered a role he can’t refuse. He’s one of the few actors who refuses to sell out!
