Slumdog Millionaire Wins DGA Award

Slumdog Millionaire can add another win to their growing list of honors this award show season. Danny Boyle’s film just received the top honor from the Directors Guild Of America Saturday night. It beat out The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Dark Knight, Frost/Nixon, and Milk for the award, making the road to the Oscar seem a lot less difficult.

Action thriller 'Taken' reigned at the box office this weekend bringing in over $24 million dollars it's in opening weekend. 'Paul Blart: Mall Cop' held onto the number 2 position, while 'The Uninvited' rounded out the top three with $14 million and $10 million respectively.

Slumdog Millionaire has gotten nothing but praise so far in the U.S., even taking home multiple awards from SAG and the Golden Globes. But the film is facing a different sort of press in India. And it’s not the good kind.

You know when people say "everything happens for a reason"? 'Slumdog Millionaire' star Freida Pinto knows that phrase all too well.

Before she took on the role as Latika in the Oscar nominated movie, she wanted a career as a TV presenter, but she was told she was "too skinny" for it.

She tells Complex magazine, "We have the voluptuous, full-figured woman thing. People say I need to get a boob job, but I'm just comfortable the way I am."

So far the British Independent flick Slumdog Millionaire has been sweeping the award show season winning Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay and much more.
