SATC Encourages Teenage Sex?

May 22, 2008

Sex and the City
Some woman from Long Island is blaming "Sex and the City" for losing her virginity at 14. Lisa, now 22, tells ABC News that shortly after she started watching the show she "graduated to ordering cosmopolitans at bars she snuck into and cheating on her boyfriend with up to seven other guys -- in one week."

She added, "When you're that age you try to emulate people on TV. Carrie smoked, so I smoked, Samantha looked at hooking up with random people as not a big deal, so that's what I did too. It wasn't 'Sex and the City's' fault. I love the show, but I think it made it a little easier to justify my behavior."

Sounds like a load of crap to us, just because someone is having sex on TV doesn't mean you should be sneaking into bars and humping a half dozen guys in one week.

Seems to me like Lisa is a bit of an idiot. I started watching SATC when I was 13-14ish and did not have sex. Seems like she'd like to justify herself by saying "samantha made me!" I wonder what would have happened if Lisa watched Roseanne too much? LOL This is the equivalent of saying "I watched COPs as a child, and it made me kill that man and run from the police, I swear!" Have some self control people, these shows are great, but also FICTIONAL!
