Russell Brand is set to star in the remake of the 1991 cult classic Drop Dead Fred.
The original is about a young girl named Elizabeth who has an imaginary friend named Fred, who always gets her into trouble. Her parents lock Fred away in a box for the remainder of her childhood, never to be seen until one fateful day when she is all grown up.
Elizabeth turns to Fred after her life falls apart one day, losing her husband and job all during her lunch hour. Fred is resurrected to try and help Elizabeth get her life back in order, but ends up doing more damage than good.
If you’ve seen the first one, you’ll immediately agree that Russell Brand is perfect to play the role of Fred. The character is insane, often reminiscent of the way Michael Keaton played Beetlejuice.
