Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman Invited to Join the Academy

You know you’ve made it in Hollywood when you receive a formal invitation into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. Several actors, directors, producers, and others have been sent invites to the exclusive “club,” which only allows 6000 members at any given time.

Some of our favorite actors (right now anyway) were lucky enough to get invited, like Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Michelle Williams, and Seth Rogen.

Oscars to Have 10 Best Picture Nominees

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Wednesday that next years Oscars will have ten Best Picture nominees! Whow!

"After more than six decades, the Academy is returning to some of its earlier roots, when a wider field competed for the top award of the year," President Sid Ganis announced.

Rudo Y Cursi: Oscar Contender?

Is it too early to start chatting about the 2010 Academy Awards race? Never! Especially when it comes to Director Carlos Cuarón’s latest film Rudo Y Cursi.

Rudo Y Cursi is a film “about brothers” who play soccer in Mexico, get discovered, and then put on rival teams. “It’s a wolf hitting against a sheep,” said director Carlos Cuarón (who co-wrote Oscar Nominated Y Tu Mamá También). “It’s a lot of fun.”

Heath Ledger 2009 Oscar Acceptance Speech

Heath Ledger won the supporting-actor Academy Award on Sunday for his role as the Joker in "The Dark Knight," becoming only the second actor to win an Oscar posthumously.

His Oscar was accepted by Ledger's parents and sister. They accepted the Oscar on behalf of Ledger's 3-year-old daughter, Matilda.

Penelope Cruz 2009 Oscar Acceptance Speech

Penelope Cruz won the first Academy Award of the night Sunday, claiming the supporting-actress honor for her role in Woody Allen's Spanish romance "Vicky Cristina Barcelona."
