Night at the Museum Beats Terminator at the Box Office

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian
Who knew a bunch of museum exhibits could beat the Terminator himself? The box office numbers for Memorial Day weekend are in, and surprisingly enough, Terminator wasn’t on top!

Ben Stiller’s Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian was the winner by a longshot, grossing $53.5 million. Terminator: Salvation came in second with $43 million.

Fox exec Chris Aronson said on Stiller’s film’s behalf, "I think most people felt Terminator was going to win the weekend. I think it's a testament to comedy is king."

Here are the top ten movies from the May 23-25 weekend.

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, $53.5 million
Terminator Salvation, $43 million
Star Trek, $22 million
Angels & Demons, $21.4 million
Dance Flick, $11.1 million
X-Men Origins: Wolverine, $7.8 million
Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, $3.7 million
Obsessed, $2 million
Monsters vs Aliens, $1.3 million
17 Again, $1 million
