Michael Jackson's This Is It was definitely a hit around the world since its opening last week. The documentary exceeded Sony’s expectations, earning $2.2 million on opening night, and $101 million total!

This Is It has done so well in its first five days in theaters, that Sony has decided to extend its limited release through Thanksgiving.
"The numbers are incredible, and we got some of the highest exit polls we've ever seen," Sony worldwide prexy of distribution Rory Bruer said. "It goes far beyond being a concert movie. Kenny Ortega created a film that is compelling and exciting and an incredible tribute to the King of Pop."
The weekend numbers total to $32.5 million, even beating out Miley Cyrus’ Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour, which made $31.1 in its opening weekend.
