Matt Damon on James Bond: He's Repulsive

Matt Damon
Here’s a statement we’ve never heard before: “James Bond is replulsive.” Apparently Matt Damon isn’t too fond of the character, and isn’t holding back when it comes to slamming him.

In an interview with the Miami Herald, Damon said, "They could never make a James Bond movie like any of the Bourne films. Because Bond is an imperialist, misogynist sociopath who goes around bedding women and swilling martinis and killing people."

Wow! We haven’t heard such fightin’ words since his assessment of Sarah Palin! He also tells the Herald what Steven Soderbergh told him about the Bond films.

Matt says, “He told me that years ago he was offered a Bond movie. He told them he'd do it if they gave him creative control. Absolutely not, they said. They have a formula, they stick to it, and it makes them a lot of money. They know what they're doing, and they're going to keep doing it."

We’ve never thought there was anything wrong with the formula! And we kind of like the fact that Bond is a cocky womanizer, sometimes masogonistic a—hole. But that’s too much for Damon. We just hope Matt has a problem with the character, and not our current Bond, Daniel Craig. Because then he’d really have a fight on his hands.

Bond is who he is. Which is weird since technically he is a character. Bond has been around longer than Matt Damon has been alive, so who cares?
