Look out, because here comes Mimi! Mariah Carey has just landed another movie role! Director Lee Daniels was reportedly so impressed with her performance in Tennessee, that he's offered her a role in Push, where she'll play a Harlem social worker ministering to an obese, HIV-positive woman impregnated by her father twice! Damn! Sounds like Oscar-quality to us! That is one heavy role if we've heard one.
Transitioning to a lighter tone, Mariah will also be starring in a Christmas movie this year. She's doing it in conjunction with her holiday album that's coming out. The movie is about a suburb where a ruthless developer wants to turn it into one big mall.
"Mariah doesn't want to let that happen," says her producing partner Benny Medina. "Her character uses song and love to keep the Christmas spirit alive."
Mariah adds, "Since I recorded the Christmas album, I've always wanted to make a movie to go with it, something that people could watch and hear and enjoy every year. I'm into it. I'm all about the holiday season."
