Katie Holmes is gearing up for a much darker genre than she used to doing!

According to Variety, Katie has just signed on to star in Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, a horror remake written and produced by Guillermo del Toro.

The original in 1973 was actually a made-for-TV movie on ABC. The story centers around Sally and her husband Alex who inherit a mansion from her deceased grandmother.

Strange things begin to happen once Sally discovers a bricked-up fireplace. She becomes tormented by devilish creatures, and Alex believes his wife is having a nervous breakdown.

Talk about creepy! The movie will begin filming this summer in Melbourne, Australia. Maybe she’s just doing the film for the vacation! We sure would!

Guillermo del Toro is the man. I am surprised that Tom Operating Theta 8 is letting Katie actually have a career. He must be putting CoS money in - I hope Billy the Bull did not sell out.
