Original Karate Kid Angry Over Remake

Karate Kid
We’re glad the original Karate Kid agrees with us on this one! Ralph Macchio has slammed the fact that producers are remaking the 80s classic. He thinks a remake of the original won’t be a hit with audiences because so many classic movies have been ruined by remakes.

He tells MTV.com, "It feels pretty good that some people are pretty angry that they're trying to remake The Karate Kid. It feels good that the public feels you don't touch certain things. Some times you go back to that, and probably shouldn't. From my personal view, the filling the void of what Mr. Miyagi was - and the magic of that character - is going to be the toughest task. I (also) don't know where the romantic story-arc goes (with Smith's Daniel) at that age."

That’s a good point! Also there’s just never going to be anything like the original. There’s something special about cheesy 80s movies with bad camera angles and weird edits. It’s what we grew up on! Having Will Smith step in as producer with Jayden starring in it seems too sensational, like the whole movie will be over the top.

Poor Ralph Macchio. But at least his career isn’t completely dead. He was just in Sundance last week promoting his upcoming movie, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Undead.

They already are fucking it up. Jackie Chan to play Mr. Miyagi. Please the only reason they choose him was cause he's the only asian man that has made a real name for himself in show business. I could tell you that if I was handed that script I would hand it back.

I totally have to agree 100% Ralph is right on point with his views. Very few remakes are worth actually watching and once you remake something it takes away from the orignial and fucks it up.
