Tom Cruise and
John Travolta are known to be pretty good buddies. And now they want to take their off-screen relationship to the big screen with a huge remake.
According to The Daily Mirror, Tom and John want to remake Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Tom is currently in talks with United Artists studio and speaking with prospective writers for the script.
The source tells The Mirror, “Butch and Sundance is a labor of love for Tom. He was eight years old when he saw the original and it made an impression that has stayed with him all his life. He can’t wait to get to work.”
The original role of Sundance was played by Robert Redford, and Tom hopes to make it his own, while John would play Cassidy. In fact, Tom even got Paul Newman’s blessing before he passed. He was the original Cassidy in 1969.
The source goes on to say, “It has been a pet project of his that has been on the back-burner for years. But now he’s ready to go, and will most likely happily eschew the enormous salary that he normally commands.”
