Jake Gyllenhaal and Jim Carrey to Star in Damn Yankees

This is an adaptation we think we’re going to like! It’s just been announced that Jim Carrey and Jake Gyllenhaal will be starring in a film adaptation of the Broadway play Damn Yankees.

Variety reports that the movie will give a modern twist on the 1955 musical about a man whose love of baseball causes him to make a deal with the devil. We can already see Jim Carrey playing the devil!

And that’s exactly what you can look forward to seeing. Jake will play the baseball-loving Joe Boyd, and Jim will play the devil. This should be a good one too, because the production company that brought us Hairspray is on board.

We’ll see if the film can hold a candle to the success the Broadway show had, winning seven Tonys when it first debuted. This is both Jim and Jake’s first musical. Think they have what it takes?

Love Damn Yankees but cannot even think of Jim Carrey in it. Believe Jake Gyllenhaal will be good as the young baseball player...after all Tab Hunter did it in the original film version. Have never liked Jim Carrey in anything so think he will pull the production down. But hope I am wrong...now who will play Lola?
