This is an adaptation we think we’re going to like! It’s just been announced that Jim Carrey and
Jake Gyllenhaal will be starring in a film adaptation of the Broadway play Damn Yankees.
Variety reports that the movie will give a modern twist on the 1955 musical about a man whose love of baseball causes him to make a deal with the devil. We can already see
Jim Carrey playing the devil!
And that’s exactly what you can look forward to seeing. Jake will play the baseball-loving Joe Boyd, and Jim will play the devil. This should be a good one too, because the production company that brought us Hairspray is on board.
We’ll see if the film can hold a candle to the success the Broadway show had, winning seven Tonys when it first debuted. This is both Jim and Jake’s first musical. Think they have what it takes?
