Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor To Play Lovers

December 18, 2007

Funny man Jim Carrey and actor Ewan McGregor will play lovers in the upcoming dark comedy 'I Love You Philip Morris.'

The movie tells the true story of Steven Russell (Carrey), a married father sent to prison in Texas. While doing time in jail he fell in love with his cellmate Morris (McGregor), with his affection inspiring him attempt to escape.

He escaped from prison four times, once using a green pen and a bucket of water to dye his prison outfit into what resembled a set of surgical scrubs, while on another occasion he faked his own death from Aids before signing his own death certificate. Morris was eventually released from jail but Russell's antics earned him a 144-year prison sentence.

If you’re anxious to see the movie, you're going to have to wait awhile because it has a release date of 2009.

On the Internet I keep seeing that Ewen McGregor will Play "Philip" Morris. Why are so many people misspelling his first name? It has two l's as in Phillip. I know this because I've known him as a very close friend for almost 20 years.
