Heath Ledger
Heath Ledger’s legacy is definitely living on, even months after his death. With award season right around the corner, Heath is among the favorites for Best Supporting Actor contention. But in Australia he’s already an award winner.

The late Heath Ledger won the prize for best international actor at the 50th Australian Film Institute Awards in Melbourne over the weekend.

Variety reports that Heath’s parents and sister were greeted with a standing ovation on Saturday when they accepted the award on his behalf.

His sister Kate said, "It's been without a doubt the most difficult year, losing such a loved family member. We are so proud of him and humbly accept this award on behalf of his beautiful daughter, who we will cherish forever."

Heath’s mother Sally added, "We are immensely proud of him, not only for his professional achievements, but in the way he truly cherished his family, friends and his precious Matilda. Heath was never one to accept mediocrity, he put his heart and soul into achieving what he believed was required and followed his passions with great enthusiasm and an insatiable curiosity."

What do you think Heath’s chances are for winning Best Supporting Actor at this year’s Oscars?
