The trailer has just come out for
Grey Gardens, starring
Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange. It’s a remake of the 1975 documentary about the aunt and cousin of Jacqueline Kennedy Onasis, who live in a decrepit old mansion in East Hampton.
Get ready to see Drew Barrymore like never before. You can see she really pours her heart into the role of Edie, who is eternally jealous of Jackie for becoming the First Lady.
The women live in the East Hampton house until they are forcibly removed by the authorities, deeming the house unlivable for human conditions. Jackie O eventually takes over renovating the house so that it meets city code in 1972.
The remake actually looks really impressive. It’s an interesting part of history that has for the most part remained a mystery. It’s interesting to see a side of Jackie O’s personal life that is so different from what the public saw on a regular basis.
