Do Oscar Nominations Help An Actors Career?

There is nothing more prestigious than getting an Oscar nomination. When the nomination comes in, so do the calls for more roles.

Just look at what happened to Jennifer Hudson, she went from American Idol reject to an A-Lister almost overnight.

2009 BAFTA Awards Winners List

Last night was all about the Grammys here in LA, and the rest of the U.S. for that matter. But right across the pond in London, all of the focus was on the BAFTA Awards. And although the event isn’t held in tinsel town, it’s still a major one, and drew in all the A-listers.

Will Slumdog Millionaire Sweep The Oscars?

So far the British Independent flick Slumdog Millionaire has been sweeping the award show season winning Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay and much more.

With the Oscar nominations announced this week, many are wondering if Slumdog will continue on with their winning streak. The movie did bring in 10 nominations, but it has some serious competition going against The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which received 13 nominations.

Benjamin Button Leads Oscars Nominations List

It was a very early morning for Hollywood and a very exciting one for the cast and crew of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

The movie received 13 Oscar nominations this morning including: Best Actor (Brad Pitt), Best Supporting Actress (Taraji Henson), Art Direction, Cinematography, Costume Design, Directing (David Fincher), Film Editing, Makeup, Sound Mixing, Visual Effects, Adapted Screenplay, Original Score and of course Best Picture.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Score Bafta Nominations

Gotta love Award Show season! The British Academy has announced their nominations and Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are up for some awards again! Maybe they can score this time around.

Jolie is up against Kate Winslet in the best actress category, along with Meryl Streep and Kristin Scott Thomas.

Brad it also up for best actor along side Dev Patel Patel for Slumdog Millionaire, Sean Penn for Milk, Frank Langella for Frost/Nixon and Mickey Rourke for The Wrestler.

Win a Chance to Cover the Academy Awards

Are you a college student who aspires to become an entertainment journalist? If so, here’s your chance!

The Academy and mtvU are joining forces for their first ever “Oscar Correspondent Contest,” giving college journalists nationwide the chance to head to LA to cover red carpet festivities and backstage celebrations at the 81st Academy Awards on February 22nd.

To Enter:
Teams of two U.S. college students, one correspondent and one videographer, are invited to create a video showcasing their broadcast journalism skills.
