Box Office Recaps

Martin Scorsese's all-star crime "The Departed" was a big hit at the box office racking in a cool $27 million. The film starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson and Mark Wahlberg is a tale of subterfuge and betrayal between Boston cops and Irish mobsters.

I have to admit this film is one of Scorsese’s best works. The action, suspense and drama will make anyone sit through 2 hours and 45 minutes without a flinch. Nicholson does such an amazing job in the movie as the villain you can't help but root for. I have to admit from Leo to Mark Wahlberg , Matt and Alec Baldwin the acting was incredible! It’s a definitely must see flick and even worth seeing a second time around.

Coming in second at the box office at $19.2 million was the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning."

Third place went to "Open Season," the animated critter film that was tops last weekend and the lowbrow comedy "Employee of the Month," with Jessica Simpson and Dane Cook, finished fourth with $11.8 million.

Next weekend's new arrivals include "The Marine," "Man of the Year," starring Robin Williams, and "The Grudge 2," with Sarah Michelle Gellar.
