Remembering 9/11

Misc.

Today marks the sixth year anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks against the US. Six years after 9/11, the memories of the attacks are still fresh in our minds. 9/11 has become a transition for some families, who are now turning from mourning to preserving memories of their loved ones through good deeds.

The heroic acts of all those killed trying to save others that September morning has spawned a growing movement. The goal is to ensure that future generations remember not just the horror of the attacks, but also the extraordinary outpouring of humanity during the days, weeks, and months that followed.

"It was the worst possible day imaginable, and in some ways, a remarkable day, too, in the way in which people responded," says David Paine, cofounder of mygooddeed.org/. "We need to rekindle the way we came together in the spirit of 9/11: It would be almost as much a tragedy to lose that lesson."

Let it not be remembered for the evil acts of violence targeted at fear, panic and death. But remember the human spirit, the brotherhood of mankind, and the goodness that not only New Yorkers but Americans and the world over have dedicated to saving our most precious resource: life

A good deed goes a long way and it only takes a minute of your day, feel free to leave your thoughts, prayers, and messages to your lost loved ones. You will all be missed!

Oh for crying out loud, Lala. Out of respect for the 9-11 victims I won't begin to tell you what was wrong with that second comment. Today is a day to reflect on how love and compassion and empathy might help us all.
