Miranda Kerr is one of the most recognizable faces of the Victoria's Secret brand. She's married to Orlando Bloom, and after having his child, got to strut down the catwalk wearing a $2.5 million diamond bra. But when she first started out at Victoria's Secret, Miranda says she wondered, "What am I doing here?"
I'll tell you what you're doing there, Miranda Kerr. Being hot.
Kerr says at 16 years old, she visited her first Victoria's Secret store. And the Australia native was blown away.
“I was like, ‘Wow! This is like a wonderland. We don’t have anything like that in Australia.’”
Ah, Victoria's Secret is a wonderland indeed. A wonderland filled with rivers of thongs and clouds made of push-up bras.
Several years later, Miranda became the first Australian model to get a contract with the brand. And she says Adriana Lima, in particular, made an impression on her.
"I just remember the first time I met Adriana, she was so beautiful," Kerr says. "I was like, 'Why would they want me? I mean, look at her, she's incredible."
This just goes to show you that no matter how attractive you are, you're never going to be attractive enough. Kerr says it only got more intimidating from there.
"And then I met Heidi and Gisele and I was like, ‘What am I doing here?'"
But Kerr says there's an important lesson to be learned here:
“I always see myself as, like, equal to everyone,” she says of her fellow models. “I can’t feel bad about being who I am, just like the girl next to me can’t feel bad about being who she is. A rose can never be a sunflower, and a sunflower can never be a rose.”
Not only is Miranda Kerr a model, she's a role model.
“All flowers are beautiful in their own way, and that’s like women too,” Kerr explains. “I want to encourage women to embrace their own uniqueness.”
Kerr recently dished about her love life with husband Orlando Bloom, telling Chelsey Handler that he wears blue silk boxer shorts.
"Well he had to get into character so I bought him these silk boxer shorts and it kind of helped."
Helped with what? Sleeping next to a Victoria's Secret model? Apparently Handler wanted to know, too, as she asked, "Character for what?"
Kerr answered: " For, you know, us. I don't want to tell you what he bought me."
Whatever it is, good luck topping a $2.5 million bra.
