According to , Kaling inked a two-year deal with NBC for a new comedy in which she’ll star.
In the meantime, Kaling will also continue her work as one of the writers and producers on The Office. The concept for the new show is still under wraps, though Kaling says she’d like to explore another corporate setting or do something like Flight of the Conchords. She says of her new venture, “This is my first step in a Transformers-style way to take over the whole world. I’ve only ever worked for NBC, and I’ve felt an enormous amount of support from the executives there.”
She added, “I’ve always wanted to do another show about women.”
Whatever she chooses to do, NBC primetime entertainment President Angela Bromstad is behind her all the way. She says, “Her comic sensibility is perfect for what we stand for in NBC comedy.”
