Liam Hemsworth is now what we call here at Hollyscoop - the Lord of "The Ring."
For those of you who’ve been hitting the refresh button waiting for the details of Miley Cyrus' engagement ring, give that index finger a rest.
In case you missed the engagement announcement: read all about it here.
People magazine interviewed Neil Lane, jeweler to the stars to get the deets on this latest design and it's pretty impressive that this all came from the mind of a 22-year-old.
For his girlfriend of three years, Hemsworth was said to have requested “Something really beautiful and romantic.” As opposed to all those hopeful husbands who show up and ask for something ugly, cold and detached looking….
Lanes answer to the quandary of requirements set before him, “was a 3.5-carat cushion-cut diamond ring, handcrafted in 18-karat gold with intricately carved diamond floral motifs in an art nouveau pattern.”
I’m quoting here, because to paraphrase would be to pretend like I know a damn thing about jewelry.
The center stone is some sort an antique rock that hasn’t been re-cut since the 1800’s. “At that time no two diamonds were alike, as they were all hand-cut, so it’s fascinating to look at because it hasn’t been re-cut to look contemporary over the years.”
Basically, it’s like none other, like Hemsworth’s truly…. unique bride-to-be.
Of the irreplicable nature of the ring, Lane says, “I find that really romantic.”
Again, not my department, but I guess if something that looks like it were conjured up by J.R.R. Tolkien is considered romantic, then well done Liam!
