Not surprisingly, it was recently revealed that ‘Jersey Shore’ star Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino has been battling a substance abuse problem. The reality star has been at Cirque Lodge in Utah getting help.
Hollyscoop talked to Celebrity Rehab host Dr. Drew Pinsky at the Valentino Rodeo Drive Flagship Opening about what his thoughts are on The Situation’s rehab stay. And he had some important advice.
“I think he’s going to be there for a while,” Dr. Drew told Hollyscoop. “My concern, though, as with every celebrity, is they return to work prematurely.”
Well, I don’t know if I’d call it “work,” but yeah, Dr. Drew has a good point.
“When I use to treat lot of celebrities, that was the thing,” Dr. Drew told us. “They want to get back to work. They want to make money. People, whom they made money for, wanted them back to work.”
Dr. Drew then gave an example of a successful celebrity rehab story—Robert Downey, Jr.
“He took 24 months and didn't even think about work,” Dr. Drew told us. “Didn't know when he was ever going to return, if ever. Got well, came back. And that's what they really have to do.”
And Dr. Drew is especially worried with the upcoming return of ‘Jersey Shore.’
“If he goes back to that situation, has trouble, he'll go back to treatment,” Dr. Drew predicts.
“I'm not telling him what to do. He probably has obligation he has to do. I totally get it but he has to think in terms of focusing on his treatment as the priority in his life. For a long time.”
