Michelle Williams: Playing Marilyn Monroe Forced Me to \'Grow Up\'
Michelle Williams could possibly be taking home her first ever Golden Globe this weekend for her starring role in the film, "My Week With Marilyn."

She has been receiving great critical reviews for her portrayal of the iconic screen sex symbol and tells Hollyscoop how she prepared for the role, including halting production and gaining some weight.

Hollyscoop caught up with Williams at the Palm Springs Film Festival Gala where she told us how she studied Marilyn Monroe, her life, her films, etc. "I spent a lot of time with her," says Williams.

"I took as much prep time as I could and I asked the movie to push a little bit to give me as much time as possible," admits the actress. She also revealed to us, "I gained a little weight," because Monroe was known for her curves just as much as she was for standing over manholes in white dresses.

Williams has received two Golden Globe nominations in the past, but this year might be her year. Williams is up for a Golden Globe in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Musical or Comedy category, and while winning would definitely be life changing, she says playing Monroe forced her to "grow up."

"I feel like I grew up on this movie," says Williams, "I feel like it's the most challenging piece of work I've taken on and I feel like I had to grow up in order to do it."
