Michael Jackson's Son Thinks Michael is on Vacation

This is just heartbreaking! Michael Jackson's youngest son Prince Michael II, also known as "Blanket," doesn't understand that his father has passed away and thinks he's simply on vacation somewhere.

Blanket's godfather Mark Lester tells Hello magazine that Blanket is confused about death and didn't understand what the memorial service held last month was for.

Lester says, "It is obvious to me that Blanket is still unsure about what exactly happened to his father. He said, 'Where's daddy gone? On holiday?' It was a rhetorical question and it broke my heart.

"Prince was taciturn, unusual for him, but we still had a hug. Paris gave me a tight hug and we just held each other for a while. We were both welling up. I told her that her dad would always lie in her heart and be remembered by at least half of the world. Paris replied, 'I'm just glad he is at peace.' "

That just brings tears to our eyes. How do you explain to a seven year old that his father, who is arguably one of the most famous people on the planet, will no longer be around? It's heartbreaking!

This is so sad, i think that they should wait for him to be a little older so that he could clearly understand and not get confused.

I was almost seven when my beloved grandpa passed away. I knew what had happened, but I thought for awhile that, if I pulled the wishbone just right on my chicken, God would send him back to me--and He did in a wonderful dream!

Blanket looks like he could be Michael's biological son. Is he? Was a DNA test done to determine if he's Michael's biological son?

I am from NY and there are plenty of 911 children younger than Blanket who understood they would not see thier mother/father again. He needs to go to a therapist, so he can begin to understand.

Poor wee man, he is only 7 and dosen't understand the impact of death. Even if he did see Daddy in the coffin he would just think he was asleep. So vulnerable. I am sure the family will try to explain it all to him, even if they leave it until a little later. Wee love, oh God how I feel for him. Paris is a darling little girl, and I am sure she and Prince Micheal, will look after there little brother.

I realize that there are ignorant people out there (soomaria), but have a little compassion for Michael's children we are not talking about other kids. It's so sad to hear that his child doesn't really know that his dad is not coming back. It breaks my heart.

Strange considering the fact that Jermaine said the children were shown the dead body at the hospital...and again at the private service(s). I attended family funerals at age 5 & 6, and certainly understood the meaning of them / death at that early age...

That is sad, but what does his fame have to do with how a 7 year old copes? I highly doubt Blanket understands the celebrity status of his dad.

This is very heartbreaking. These poor kids. Paris seems like she understood what her father was going through in life. She's such a compassionate little girl. God bless her and her brothers. And as for Soomaria's comment earlier...you are absolutely right. It's sad to lose a parent at any age for ANYONE. But they are simply commenting on this particular situation...not trying to say that this child is worse off than others. You guys are reading far too much into this.

beautifully said, soomaria!!!!

Nicely put "soomaria"! All I really want to hear is that they settled with a guardian and are happy where they belong.

what is so especially heartbreaking about this? as if there weren't any other 7 year olds having the same heartbreaking problem out there. dummies. have some respect for the rest of humanity, apart from those you monitor head to toe 24/7
