Michael Jackson’s children will be called as witnesses in the manslaughter trial of Dr. Conrad Murray. And it was his idea! Murray reportedly plans to call Paris and Prince to the stand as defense witnesses over the death of their father.
He believes the children’s testimony could help get him off a charge of involuntary manslaughter for giving Jackson a lethal sedative overdose. Sources tell News of the World, "If they back him it will work well in the eyes of a jury."
The 57-year-old cardiologist, who is still practicing medicine, has pleaded not guilty to a charge of involuntary manslaughter, and claims he didn't give Michael anything that "should have killed him".
However, Joe Jackson compared Murray’s administration of drugs to his son to "Russian roulette.” A preliminary hearing - which will see prosecutors lay out some of the evidence against Dr Murray - is due to take place on January 4 2011.
In related news, the Jacksons claim in a lawsuit against AEG that Michael was getting weaker and weaker in his final weeks, but was threatened with a lawsuit by AEG if he didn't take drugs to keep himself going. The Jacksons claim that's when Dr. Murray came in, who prescribed Michael Valium, Ativan, Versed and Propofol.
AEG denies the allegations.
Get ready for a long and sketchy trial that will probably last forever!
