A judge says
Michael Jackson's mother Katherine should raise Michael's children and an allowance will also be provided.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff ruled
Katherine Jackson will be the permanent guardian of her grandchildren Prince Michael, 12, Paris, 11 and Prince Michael II, 7, while Debbie Rowe was given visitation rights.
Her attorney said on Thursday, "We were all united in our goals to do what is best for Michael's wonderful children, and both Mrs. Jackson and Debbie Rowe were on the exact same page.”
Katherine was also granted an allowance, but the judge didn't release any details about how much she'll get a month. As
Hollyscoop had previously reported, court documents show that Michael had been financially supporting Katherine up until the time of his death.
The amount of the payments was not specified, but the Jude ruled that Katherine was eligible to claim 83.5 per cent of the money requested dating back to June 25, 2009, which is when Michael passed away. The allowance figures will be reviewed every six months.
The trial is in recess right now, but when they return to court later this afternoon, the judge is expected to make a decision in regards to who will gain control of Michael's estate, which is estimated at $500 million dollars. Both parties are also expected to return to court for a follow-up hearing on October 2, 2009.
Katherine’s lawyer says his client should be named co-executor of the estate on the basis that she had been his most trusted business adviser for the past four years.
