Janet Jackson
The 2009 BET Awards may have been dedicated to Michael Jackson, but a tearful speech from his sister Janet Jackson quite possibly stole the show.

Wearing all white, Janet took the stage at the Shrine Auditorium to thank fans for all their support in the wake of Michael's passing.

She said: "My entire family wanted to be here tonight, but it was just too painful so they elected me to speak with all of you.

"I would just like to say that to you, Michael is an icon. To us, Michael is family, and he will forever live in all of our hearts.

"On behalf of my family and myself, thank you for all your love - thank you for all your support. We miss him so much," she said as she fought off tears.

As she left the stage, Jamie Foxx, Stevie Wonder and Ne-Yo performed the Jackson 5 hit I'll Be There and a photo montage of Michael played on the screen in the background.

Check out the video clip of Janet's tribute below and let us know what your thought about this years BET Awards. Were you pleased or disappointed with the Michael tribute?

So far the family has done nothing but act commendably and with great class. All our love and thoughts are with you at this horrible horrible time.

The BET Awards highly disappointed me. Not only was it a hot mess, but they decided to cut Chris Brown off at the last minute. Please sign petition for him to perform a tribute to MJ at the VMAs 2009. twitition.com/tbife

...so True and I commend her for coming out to Speak and say Thank You to all the Fans. That took a lot of courage to do.

From someone who lost her own brother at the age of 50 (the star of our family) the frustration and helplessness you feel lays in the pit of your stomach for a long time.
