Michael Jackson fans have signed an online petition to propose that the King of Pop be considered for a posthumous Nobel peace prize.
Over 15,000 people have taken to the internet to sign a petition started by a Norwegian fan. The process was started long before Michael’s death; fans started signing the petition in April of 2007, but since his death it’s gained momentum.
Adding fuel to the fire was an initiative begun by Los Angeles student Anneliese Brown, who has drafted an official letter to the Nobel prize committee.
Part of her letter reads: "Michael's message for humankind has always been rooted in compassion and kindness. He has succeeded in a lifelong dedication to the well-being of humanity.
"Moving beyond all political, social and economic borders, Michael Jackson consistently spread a positive message of global unity, healing and love."
