As we reported yesterday, there was a lot of hype surrounding theMichael Jackson performance at the World Music Awards. Unfortunately, the performance was anything from special. Fans of the King Of Pop are furious and are demanding a refund since he failed to perform his hit "Thriller".
Thousands paid up to $180 for tickets to the show, expecting the pop superstar to perform a duet with Chris Brown. But Jackson left Brown to sing "Thriller" alone, and only managed to spit out a few lines of "We Are The World, " with the backing of a gospel choir. Sources say fans were extremely upset and walked out of the venue.
Meanwhile organizers are revealing that Michael had an attack of nerves due to many fiascos backstage. We hear organizers had to beg Beyonce Knowles to present him the Diamond award cause no one else wanted to do it. Bon Jovi declined to give the award and there were talks to fly in Janet Jackson to present the award. It was then when Beyonce came to the rescue. However, things turned ugly when she had to spend 30 minutes pleading Michael to go onstage. Michael was overheard telling aides, You know, I never get angry but I'm getting really p***** off now." She got more upset when she heard her parents were banned from Wacko Jacko's dressing room.
What caused Michael to lose his marbles? Apparently, he went on stage and his microphone was turned off because he went on stage past the 11pm curfew. Michael had rehearsed four songs but never promised to perform Thriller.
One insider reveals, "He'd decided to sing She's Out Of My Life but each time his car drove up to the stage he was told it wasn't ready. Then his mic was cut off. It was just one disaster too far." An awards spokesman confirmed yesterday, "The venue cut the sound at 11pm."
