Some celebs bulk up for a role, lose some weight, maybe brush up on a foreign accent..but other celebs take their movie roles VERY seriously. So seriously in fact that they do some weird sh-t, like bleaching their eyebrows, living in a homeless shelter, or refusing to eat food for months.

Check out the weird prep work that some celebs did to win a role.

Rooney Mara: In order to get the role of Lisbeth Salander in “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” Rooney Mara had to get her eyebrows bleached, her hair chopped off, and her lip, brow, nose, and nipple pierce all on the same day. She called the multiple piercing visit, “very intense.”

HOLLYSCOOP EXCLUSIVE
Meryl Streep took home her third Oscar win tonight after a lifetime of racking up 17 nominations.

Streep revealed to Hollyscoop at the 2012 Academy Awards that she has a special good luck charm that led to her winning Best Actress for her role as Margaret Thatcher in “The Iron Lady.”
Finally Meryl Streep gets the recognition she deserves. I mean, Meryl Streep is a very underrated actress, for sure. Talk about an underdog! Kidding, Meryl Streep has been nominated for 17 Oscars! However, she’s only won three times, tonight marking her first win since 1983 when she won for “Sophie’s Choice.”

Streep makes her way to the stage, waving to the audience and asking everyone to calm down.

Everyone's favorite narrator, Morgan Freeman, has opened up the 84th Annual Academy Awards. It would've been really funny if James Franco showed up again, but the show kicked off with a comedy bit from host Billy Crystal.

In a video montage, Crystal recreates a bunch of scenes movies that came out in the past year including, 'Bridesmaids,' 'The Help,' and 'Hugo.' It also included a kiss from George Clooney, a Jonah Hill cameo, and a meeting with Justin Bieber. Bieber pretends to know who Hemingway is. Probably thinks it's one of his backup dancers.

The only Oscar bet I made was the fact that Billy Crystal would say 'you look mahvalous!' within the first thirty seconds of his hosting. I lost. But he did remind us that it was his ninth time hosting the Oscars. And of course, a song and dance kicked off immediately.

"We're here at the beautiful Chapter 11 theater," Crystal said, referring to recent news of Kodak taking their name off of the theater to save $4 million a year. Woah, there, Billy. Getting kinda edgy! If the Academy wanted smarm, they would've gone with Ricky Gervais.
‘Best Actress’ nominee Meryl Streep looked lovely in a gold Lanvin dress at the 2012 Academy Awards.

She paired her gold dress with a gold Lanvin clutch, Fred Leighton earrings and Ferragamo shoes.

Do you think Meryl will take home the Best Actress win today for ‘The Iron Lady”?

Meryl Streep just landed her 17th Oscar nomination for her leading role as Margaret Thatcher in the biopic “The Iron Lady.”

This means that Meryl Streep is the most nominated actor in history, man or woman! I wonder what expletives she’ll share with us when she goes to pick up her award?

After Streep misplaced her glasses and dropped that “s” bomb at the Golden Globes, Meryl Streep joined an elite group of individuals who have to be bleeped out on live TV, I’m referring to the cast of “Jackass” and rappers. Just rappers in general.

Celebrities are some of the most privileged and lucky people in the world. Aside from, you know, having their every move documented and criticized and all.

I know, I can hear your hearts breaking, too.

Most of the time, with fame comes fortune, and celebrities are pretty fortunate. So it’s nice when they decide to give some of that back in the form of charity. The folks at the non-profit organization The Giving Back Fund have put together a list called Giving Back 30, which honors celebs who have written the biggest checks to charity.
Awards season has finally begun! The Critics Choice Movie Awards aired on VH1 last night and it’s one of my favorite awards show because, like the Golden Globes, the celebrities sit around large circle tables, get drunk, and rub elbows with one another. Here are some highlights from the night.

What I learned about celebs while watching them eat: Emma Stone introduced herself to Meryl Steep at one point, George Clooney laughs at everything and loves whispering in people's ears, Charlize Theron is friends (friendly) with the ladies of “The Help,” Busy Philipps and Michelle Williams are besties, and Leonardo DiCaprio doesn’t mingle much.
