Also getting picked up today is Hellcats, a new series about a competitive cheerleading squad at a Southern university. Ashley Tisdale is the star of the show, alongside actress Aly Michalka.
And rounding out the lineup is another new series, Nikita, starring Maggie Q as a spy and assassin.

Heather gave her neighbors--and the network--a wake up call. She showed the young stars of MP whose boss and she proved to studio bosses that she has what it takes to boast ratings.
800,000 extra people tuned into MP this week to see the return of Amanda Woodward.
Ratings for Melrose Place were it’s best since October 6 for women 18-34 and women 18-49 (1.1 rating). It was also up from last week’s series lows across the board.
Numbers aside, Heather put the spark back into Melrose Place, and judging from next weeks previews, a lot of scandalous plotlines haven't even seen the light of day yet.
What did you think about Heather's big return? Did you tune in?

Fans of the original Melrose Place couldn't be more thrilled about her debut, and new fans will soon realize why Amanda Woodward owned that building...and everyone in it.
But it looks like fans aren't the only ones thrilled about her return--her ex husband Richie Sambora is going to be glued to the tube too.
"Yeah, we're looking forward to it," he told Hollyscoop exclusively about her featured debut while at the New Moon movie premiere in Los Angeles on Monday night.
Heather may be Richie's ex, but he walked down the carpet with another gorgeous blonde--his daughter Eva.
When asked which famous parents footsteps Eva would want to follow, she told Hollyscoop, "I love music but I really like acting."

“Ashlee didn’t see it coming, and now she’s crushed,” a source told American tabloid the National Enquirer.
“She invested her heart and soul into the job. She feels like the rug has been pulled out from under her," the source added.
Apparently she was having a hard time dealing with being a full time actress and a mother and she's upset that her efforts didn't pay off.
"She is struggling to hold her marriage together, dealing with motherhood and practically starving herself to look good.
“Ashlee’s friends are concerned that she’s headed for an emotional meltdown,” said the insider.
Clearly she wasn't expecting to be let go because earlier this month her hubby Pete Wentz said they were holding off on having another baby because "Ashlee is really focused on Melrose Place right now."
So maybe being let go from Melrose Place was a blessing in disguise. Sounds like now is just as good a time as any to have baby #2.
Simpson and her co-star Colin Egglesfield were cut from the CW drama last week but their last episode won't air until January.

Murders usually work for ratings boosters, and unfortunately, producers Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer decided to wrap Ash’s character up into the mystery of who killed Sydney. She and actor Colin Egglesfield will not appear after the 12th episode.
Slavkin tells EW, “Well, we always knew that this murder mystery would end in episode 12. And we always knew that [Ashlee's] character of Violet would be instrumental in that as a suspect, and [Colin's character of] Augie as well. And once that murder mystery was solved, she would go on her way. That was the original plan going into the development of the show.”
We wonder if Ashlee was clued in on this little development…Slavkin also says “the tone of the show was going to shift into a much more fun, romantic, sexy upbeat kind of show.” Guess they don’t exactly see that in Ashlee.
As for how the two took the news? Slavkin said, “They’re total professionals and they took it like professionals. When you go into a show you never know what’s going to evolve and what the possibilities are. But because they knew ahead of time [that leaving was a possibility], it wasn’t a complete shock.”
Hopefully this will save the show! Something needs to change, that’s for sure!

According to a new report, Heather is in talks to appear on the show, reprising her character Amanda Woodward.
After Heather’s rep denied that she was returning to the show, an executive for Melrose said “the door is always open.” According to People, that may have changed Heather’s mind because she’s considering it!
Executive producer Todd Slavkin said, “We’re huge fans of hers. The most important criteria for inviting alumni back, he said, was: “Does it feel organic? Does it not feel contrived? That’s really what’s important to us.”
Well, there’s no doubt Heather should do it! She could use the career boost, and the show would be just that much more exciting with her back!

According to E!, Jenna will play a movie executive named Kendra Wilson who works at Paramount, and is interested in Jonah (Michael Rady), an aspiring filmmaker.
Executive producer of Melrose 2.0 Todd Slavkin calls Jenna’s character "ivy league graduate, wickedly sexy and wickedly smart."
As for now, she’s slated for two episode, #7 and #8. But Slavkin says “her audition blew us away,” so we may be seeing more of her! We could totally see Jenna fitting right into the Melrose drama.
Tune in September 8th on the CW for the premiere.

According to E!, Brooke will play the character Vanessa, who is the wife of Dr. Michael Mancini, played by Thomas Calabro.
The couple has two sons together, Noah and David. David and Michael apparently have some beef to work out, which should make this family dynamic very interesting!
Brooke is a perfect cast addition to Melrose! We can’t wait for it to finally air! September 8th!
