Former spurned "The Bachelor" star Melissa Rycroft and her husband Tye Strickland have just launched their new CMT reality show “Melissa & Tye” to document the ups and downs of married life, their new baby Eva, and their recent relocation from Dallas, Texas to Hollywood to pursue Melissa's dreams of becoming a TV host.
The couple is having a tough time adjusting to Hollywood and what it means to be a “reality TV” couple.
“I'm trying to find my way in LA,” Melissa tells Hollyscoop at the Clorox Lounge Last Comic Sitting Competition.
She jokes to us that she's learned how all of Hollywood's reality stars keep their “youthful appearances.”
“I met two lovely ladies who kind of give me the ins and outs of what you have to do in LA, including botox, lip injections, tapeworm diet. It's quite the introduction,” Melissa jokes.
Her husband Tye interjects, “I hope she doesn't try any of it…She keeps saying 'do you think I need botox' and I'm like I don't think you need anything.”
However, since Tye has to jet back and forth between L.A. and Dallas for his career as an insurance salesman, Melissa says appearing together on the reality show has helped their relationship.
“It forces you to work together,” says Tye.
Melissa adds, “We get to work together, which is awesome, and right now while we have long distance, it's forcing us to be closer than we would if we didn't have the cameras. When he is away, communication is the key. You stop fighting about the little stuff like when you see each other every day…we talk 10-12 times a day so we're really communicating right now.”
Melissa is probably best known as the “winner” of season 13 of "The Bachelor" only to get dumped by bachelor Jason Mesnick several weeks later.
Her one rule for anyone trying to make it in reality TV?
“Don't date men on TV,” laughs Melissa.
