Like a fast food order at Burger King, when it comes to Matthew McConaughey’s body, you can truly have it your way…
Following his ladykilling role in the strip tease feature Magic Mike, the actor has slimmed way down to prep for his latest and greatest performance. McConaughey has signed on to play AIDS victim Ron Woodroof in the 2013 film The Dallas Buyer’s Club, a role that required him to drop 30 pounds.
Photos revealing the actor’s current physique demonstrate the actor’s commitment to the task.
In the shots, remnants of the muscles that once were hide behind a white T-shirt and jeans as the actor walks through the streets of New York City. Used to his previous shape, his clothes sag off on his body.
McConaughey is currently filming for The Wolf of Wall Street. The film, directed by Academy Award winner Martin Scorsese, centers on a NYC stockbroker who refuses to cooperate during an investigation of a securities fraud case involving the corrupt world of Wall Street.
Matt’s co-stars in the film include Jonah Hill, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Kyle Chandler.
Though the film will feature a slimmer McConaughey, the actor plans to get even skinnier for the role of Rob Woodroof. Set in 1986, The Dallas Buyer’s Club follows Woodroof as he seeks out underground techniques for his chronic diagnosis.
He spoke about the role during a recent interview with Larry King.
“I'm playing a guy who was sick and would have loved to have been healthier but wasn't,” said McConaughey.
For the actor, shrinking down to the size of the suffering character was more of a challenge for his mind than it was for his body.
He continued, “I'll get down to the weight I need to get to. I'm on my way, and it's what I need to do for the job.”
Both Wolf of Wall Street and Buyer’s Club are set for 2013 releases.
